CELP is a Canadian program developed specifically for students in China who wish to enhance their English-language skills in order to be better prepared for post-secondary studies in Canada. CELP is a product of Canadian Education Services (China) and is available to junior and middle schools in China. The program was developed jointly by Professional Development Seminars (Canada) and Canadian International Academy in Nanjing. This school offers the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and is inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education. CELP courses are taught by Ontario and other Canadian-certified teachers. Others may teach CELP but must first undergo CES professional training in order to be certified to teach the program.
Students who successfully complete the courses and earn sufficient marks on the proficiency test will earn the CELP Certificate may not have to take TOEFL or IELTS. Selected universities may accept the CELP Certificate for admission into first year programs providing students have met other admission requirements.
