PLAR Challenge

The PLAR challenge process allows students to be assessed for prior learning for the purpose of consideration for granting a credit for a grade 10, 11 or 12 course. Students in Grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 may apply to challenge certain grade 10, 11 or 12 courses.

PDS can establish this process for your school. Where more convenient, PDS can arrange for the appropriately challenged credit to be granted through the Halton Learning Centre, a registered and inspected private school in Ontario.

To ensure the integrity of the PLAR Challenge process, PDS can:

  • develop a PLAR application form
  • evaluate each application in consultation with the student and appropriate school staff
  • develop formal testing and other assessment strategies
  • conduct testing and assessment if desired
  • evaluate and report on student performance
