Professional Development Seminars Facilitates both Educational Assessments (done by a teacher specialist) ad Psych-educational Assessments (done by a registered Psychologist with the Ontario College of Psychologist).
Educational assessments are VERY limited with respect to their “findings”. They will mainly focus on the academic abilities of your child. They may give a “rough” grade level and percentile.
Psycho-Educational Assessments are more comprehensive and they include a battery of cognitive and academic tests. They can be done only by a registered educational psychologist.
The costs related to Psycho-Educational Assessments may be partially or entirely covered by you work benefits package. The Psycho-Educational Assessment will be beneficial for the development of your child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP), as well as receiving a formal identification or diagnosed (such as: ADD, ADHD, PDD etc.) The assessment will spell out the appropriate accommodations or modifications which would benefit your child. Click here for more information on Psycho-Educational Assessments.
Both assessments can be arranged at the Halton Learning centre.
