Seminar #26

Growing Success & Your Upcoming School Inspection – BEING RESCHEDULED

Seminar #26 –

This full-day seminar, presented by Jim Sebastian, is for principals and teachers of private schools. The session will have 3 parts to it:

Part 1

A brief policy overview of Growing Success outlining implications for the inspection of private schools

Part 2

A look in detail at the Ministry of Education’s inspection checklist with examples of evidence that schools can adapt to demonstrate compliance. We will spend time in workshop mode practicing how to develop learning goals and success criteria and examining samples of good assessment practices.

Part 3

An overview of management issues to be considered in order to maximize success during an inspection including anticipating questions that might arise during inspections. We will look at a sample implementation plan for Growing Success, which is a required element in sound management practices.

The session focuses on practical recommendations on how private schools can successfully meet the new opportunity and challenge. Mr. Sebastian will propose useful tools to help schools in implementing the new policies. Teachers will find the session of value because we will work on lesson plans, unit plans, and assessment strategies. The seminar is important for principals because it addresses key management practices that are important for a good inspection.
