Seminar #27

Essential Information for Principals/Owners New to the Ministry of Education Inspection Process

Each October, PDS facilitates an indispensable seminar/workshop for principals, owners, operators and key teachers of schools that are preparing for their first validation and inspection process.

Being properly informed and prepared is the key to your success.

Our workshop will equip you with the essential information needed for a successful inspection by a Ministry of Education officer. The purpose of the Ministry inspection is to ensure that your school meets the administrative and academic criteria for operating a high school in Ontario, which positions your school to eventually grant qualifying students with high school credits toward their OSSD.

PDS would like to invite you to attend a full-day workshop which will provide you with critical information on these topics:

Administrative requirements:

  • Policy/Procedure Manual
  • Ontario Student Records
  • Ontario Student Transcripts
  • Report cards
  • Hours of instruction – per course
  • Communications with other credit granting schools
  • Data management – OnSIS

Instructional requirements:

  • Course delivery
  • Course outlines
  • Lesson and unit plans
  • Assessment & evaluation
  • Relevant policy documents

Inspection requirements:

  • Pre-inspection report
  • Teacher and principal responsibilities
  • Proof and evidence
  • Examination of school records

PDS will review Ministry of Education documents required within a school; for example, OSS, Growing Success, OST Manual, etc. We will provide you with sources where you may obtain these essential documents, as well as sources for resources that will benefit your school.
