Lunch & Learn
Facilitator: Ms. Rita Waller
Private Schools Coordinator
Ministry of Education
Field Services Branch
Lunch & Learn is designed to be an informative and useful advanced forum of discussion and learning for principals, department heads and key teachers of private schools. During a two and a half hour lunch, participants will be invited to listen to a thirty-minute presentation on a relevant topic chosen for the day, followed by a two-hour discussion and exchange of ideas. It will be a great opportunity for participants to ask questions and learn how their colleagues are solving school challenges. This forum also provides an excellent opportunity for networking, sharing of ideas, and learning from each other’s knowledge and experience.
Rita Waller was appointed Coordinator of Private Schools in May 2005. Her career has focused mainly on policy analysis and research and she has held positions with the Education Improvement Commission and with the Ministry of Education in the Policy and Programs Branch, Information Management Branch, and currently the Field Services Branch.
The Presentation will begin with a brief review of the diversity existing amongst private schools in Ontario, and then address issues related to legislation and policy pertaining to private schools. Ms. Waller will also discuss the inspection process and will inform the participants of issues which are currently being considered at the Ministry level and are of interest to private schools. At the end of her presentation, Dr. Miller will facilitate a discussion where she will answer questions put forward by the participants.
