PLAR Equivalency

The “equivalency” process involves the assessment of credentials and other appropriate documentation from jurisdictions outside Ontario for the purpose of granting an Ontario high school credit. PDS recognizes the challenge for schools to ensure consistency and Ontario standards where students present out-of-province credentials.

To help your school conduct an appropriate equivalency process, PDS will:

  • establish a PLAR Equivalency procedure for your school
  • develop a template to record assessment results
  • assess credentials
  • determine the number of equivalent credits to be granted
  • record credits granted
